Daily Outfit - 06/29/11

dailywear

So you have seen this dress before, and normally I don't repeat outfits let alone post them again. However, I love this dress! I ordered it back on a snowy February day just knowing I would like it come spring/summer. That was an understatement - - I have probably worn this dress 5 times so far this year. The best part is it is super comfy, and I get a ton of compliments every time I wear it.

I did switch it up a bit today by ditching the belt that came with it for this brown leather belt with gold studs and finished off the look with these comfy Payless sandals.

6/29/11

Dress - Forever 21, $33 (Feb. 2011) (No longer available online, but I did see a couple of these dresses at the Times Square F21 location just a couple of weeks ago.  Also, they have a shirt version!)
Belt - Target New Stock via Goodwill, $1 (June 2011)
Leggings - compliments of Just My Size
Gold Sandals - Payless, w/ store promo for $17 (June 2011)

Reader Question - Stripe Cardigan

ReaderQuestion

I came across your blog recently and I love it! I always look forward to your daily outfits and search through your archives when I'm trying to figure out how to pull some of my own outfits together. I bought a sweater this weekend from the Banana Republic outlet and I'd love to get your advice on how to wear it. It's a blue and white striped v-neck cardigan and my lack of creativity has me only thinking of matching it with, well, blue and white. Do you have any suggestions for how to wear it that's a little more interesting?

Thanks in advance!
Michelle

Michelle, thanks so much for the sweet words! I am loving the sounds of your cardigan. Then again, I am a big fan of stripes!!

First off, let's look at some colors that work well with blue. I used navy blue in my example, but keep in mind these colors and their various shades will work well with all blues.

navy color combos

From top left (clockwise): Coral, Khaki, Pink, Turquoise, Green, and Yellow

Here are a few looks that I think would work well with your cardigan also.

Stripe Cardi - Set 2

Left: Pair a white tee with maxi skirt, toss the cardigan over your shoulders and accent with lots of silver and colorful bangles along with some silver sandals.

Center: Pattern mix your stripes with more stripes and a pair of khaki pants (they have definitely made a come back!), finish the look with a great pair of metallic sandals and a fun necklace (look at how cute this crystal watermelon one is!).

Right: Top off a pair of white jeans with a flowy turquoise tank and the stripe cardigan. Keep things simple with a pair of white sandals and a chunky turquoise necklace.

Stripe Cardi - Set 1

Left: Top off a great navy tank and coral skirt with the cardigan. Finish off the look with a necklace and fun patterned heels.

Center: Take your cardigan to work paired with a classic full skirt, oxford shirt, and neutral accessories.

Rights: Add the cardigan to a bright sunny maxi and finish off the look with a statement bracelet and denim wedges.

Michelle, I hope you like these ideas and they help keep you from just pairing your cardigan with just blue and white! As you can see, the possibilities are practically endless! Enjoy your new cardigan!

And if after seeing all these great looks you feel the need for a stripe cardigan too, here are a few fab finds under $50 options!
