Daily Outfit - 05/29/11

dailywear

This past Sunday, Dave and I decided to take in a "double feature" and see both The Hangover 2 and the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Considering we usually see about 3 movies total a year this was a pretty unusual occurrence. I wanted an outfit that was super comfy for sitting that long, and this outfit was perfect for that.

When I brought this shirt home from Goodwill I think Dave was hoping it was for him.  But nope!  It is all mine.  I can already tell it is going to be a fav of mine!

05/29/11

Plaid Shirt - Wrangler Pearl Snap Shirt/Thrifted, $4 (May 2011)
Maxidress - Target, clearance for $20 (March 2011)
Necklace - compliments of Close 2 Your Heart* w/ charm from the craft store
Coil Bracelet - Burlington Coat Factory, $5 (Spring 2011)
Pave Bead Bracelet - TJ Maxx, $20 (Feb. 2011)
Turquoise Bracelet - JC Penney, $8 (Spring 2011)
Sandals - Clarks via 6pm.com, on sale for $30 (Dec. 2010)

* How cute would this Close 2 Your Heart Necklace be as a gift to bridesmaids?  For the wedding, the bridesmaids could either wear matching charms or ones that are similar.  After the wedding, they would have a necklace they could wear anything they wanted to on it and it wouldn't scream "I'm a bridesmaids gift!".  Great gift idea if I do say so myself!!

Tuesday Tip:

Speaking of gifts, check out this great ribbon storage idea:

Shoedazzle is a "shoe of the month club", but has expanded to purses and jewelry also. When you first sign up you answer some questions about your personal style. Based on that, five shoe recommendations are made to you each month. You can either pick from those, chose another pair (or select a purse or jewelry set) or simply "skip" the month for no charge.

It is super fun and requires no minimum purchase commitment. With the Groupon deal it makes it a great day to try to it out!

Daily Outfit - 05/27/11

dailywear

After all the bad storms passed through Indiana on Wednesday and more rain on Thursday it was really cool today (high 50s). Plus, it was gloomy so it felt like a good day to wear this new black dress and layer it up.

05/27/11

Black Lace Dress - Max Studio/Thrifted, $6 (May 2011) (excited about this - Max Studio dresses usually retail for between $100 - $200)
Blue Shirt - Ralph Lauren/Thrifted, $4 (May 2011)
Necklace - Burlington Coat Factory, clearance for $6 (Spring 2011)
Leggings - Burlington Coat Factory, part of a 3 pack for $7 (March 2011)
Leopard Flats - Rock & Republic/6pm.com Outlet Store, $37 (regular retail $198!)

Yesterday on Twitter and Facebook I mentioned that when thrifting (and even regular shopping) don't pay attention to the size on the tag. Look at the clothing item and visually see if it looks similar to other items in your closet. If it looks similar then try it on. I was attracted to this dress, loved the brand, but the tag read Medium - a size I very seldom wear. However, it looked like it would work, so I check it out further and sure enough it fits! Super score!

Fab Find - Purse

shop

While looking around on Macy's website I spotted a Steve Madden purse that caught my eye. I loved so much about it, especially it's sale price of $50.99. After looking at the purse a bit more I realized that it was a great combination of what so many high-end designers are currently offering.

Check it out:

Purse Baby

It is available in three great color combos too.

Look to Keep: Utility/Army Jacket

checkitout

As you could tell from my outfits last week, I love my "army jacket" or "utility jacket" or whatever you want to call it.

Army Jacket

So it made me happy when I saw that People StyleWatch showed similar jackets as a "look to keep".

Do you have an army jacket in your wardrobe? If not, you may want to snatch up one of these:

Daily Outfit - 05/24/11

dailywear

I promise I have been getting dressed the last couple of days, but I have just been majorly casual and haven't snapped any pics. Today though I tossed on this maxi dress for a grocery store run. This maxi was a major MVP in my wardrobe last spring and summer, but this is its first outing this year.

05/24/11

White Tee - J.Jill, clearance for $13 (April 2011)
Black Maxi - Target, $20 (Spring 2010)
Necklace - Simply Fashion, $6 (Spring 2011)
Belt - Target, clearance for $4 (2009)
Sandals - Chinese Laundry via Heels.com, purchased with an Eversave Certificate, so only out of pocket $20 (April 2011)

Tuesday Tip:

I came across these two tips and thought they went well together, so today you get two tips for the price of one!

Also, I shared what I made for dinner tonight on Twitter and lots of tweeps were interested in the recipe. I thought since it was yummy, super easy and a good Weight Watchers recipe I would share it here too.

Have you heard? CityChicOnline is currently offering 50% off EVERYTHING! Now through May 30 you can score some major deals with this sale, and, as always, they have free shipping and returns. I have purchased a few items from CityChicOnline and have to say I love their stuff! The quality is nice and they have really fun designs.

Just take a look at a handful of the items that caught my eye.

CityChicOnline offers clothes in sizes 14 - 22, but be sure to check out their size guide (their S/14 is similar to Lane Bryant's 18).

Flattering Pieces for Under $50

shop

In a recent issue of People StyleWatch they showed six Universally Flattering Pieces that are work wardrobe basics.

Flattering Pieces

I thought I would round up some of options for each of those six pieces in misses and plus sizes that are Fab Finds Under $50 to share.

Do you already have some of these pieces in your wardrobe? What are you going to add?
