FFF Week - Runway Show

checkitout

I shared the outfit I wore to the finale runway show earlier today, and now I am showing you some of the looks that walked the runway. This runway show wasn't like others in the fact that it showcased items by independent designers, mass retailers and smaller boutiques.

I have to say most of the items that caught my eye were from the mass retailers like Sonsi, Lane Bryant, Ashley Stewart and Kmart. I think this is because of the sensible side of my "fab finds under $50" nature along with their designs fitting better with my lifestyle and career. (Keep in mind this is just a small sampling of the items that walked, check out Alec Turner's album for a complete look at all of the outfits)

Sonsi kicked the show off by showing some great pieces for casual and work.

I had gotten a taste of what Lane Bryant had up their sleeve for fall based on the lookbook I saw on Thursday. However, the looks in motion really wowed!

The dress (will retail for $69.95) on the left might be a hard color to wear for some, but I think paired with a black blazer and tights would make the camel and ruffle really pop (or how cute would it be with a denim jacket and flat boots for a more casual spin).

The jacket in the middle look is simply fabulous with it's tone-on-tone stripes. It will retail for $189.95, so I am going to need a coupon or two for this one! The leopard pencil skirt will sell for $54.95 and is one of three great animal print skirts Lane Bryant is showing for fall.

The suit look in the right is such a typical "me" work outfit. Love belting the shirt and letting the jacket open. Price points are: jacket - $89.95, blouse - $39.95, pant - $64.95.

Kmart really wowed on the runway, in my opinion, especially when you keep in mind that the majority of their price points are $39.99 or LESS!!

The jacket on the left is a great faux sherling open front jacket.

The zipper detailing on the grey dress in the middle really caught my eye. It would be one of those great dresses to toss on for work with boots and not have to worry about a lot of accessories.

Lastly, the dress on the right screams glam with its mix of blush with gold sequins.

Ashley Stewart had some hot looks walk the runway too. I have admit I have shopped AS very little in the past, but I am looking forward to checking out the "new Ashley Stewart" this fall.

AS

On the left, AS had a great sheer/solid open front jacket (are you getting this? Open front "moto"-esque jackets are everywhere for fall!). I wouldn't be so bold as to pair it over a bustier like they show, but rather a great slim fit sweater or tee with jeans or over a sheath dress.

In the middle I love the flowy top in the neutral color scheme. Come colder temps it would be great over a slim black turtleneck sweater too.

The grey leather ruffle vest made my heart go pitter-patter! So chic and the styling possibilities are endless!

Next up, are some fun and quirky designs from Sweetooth Couture. Some have said she is the "Betsey Johnson for plus sizes", and I would have to say I agree. While these designs wouldn't work with my lifestyle and wardrobe, they are certainly very cute and fun to look at.

Now moving on to some other designers and boutiques:

The look on the left is from Her Game 2. I love the color of the jacket, but what caught my eye the most about this look was the styling. It is hard to see, but they tied a small silk scarf around the tab on the sleeve of the jacket. Can't wait to try this extra pop of color and pattern on one of my jackets this fall.

The center and right looks are from LaDan's Closet and retail for over $300 each.  A little pricey for the Fab Finds Gal, but that long cape is fierce!

The dress on left again caught my eye as a good "go to" work dress. I like the color as a nice variation from the usual black and grey in the work place and the slits on the sleeves and hem add some extra interest. Unfortunately, I can't remember who showed this look (but will update as soon as I know).

The center and right look are from Queen Grace Collection which is a new line just debuting this fall.

All in all, the runway show was very nice (a bit long - see Netta P's summary.  I agree with the last two paragraphs.). I appreciate the mix of models that walked and the various sizes and shapes they represented.
