What a great 4-day break from work for the holiday. It made it really hard to get going this morning though! I took advice from the Outfit Inspiration Calendar and went with the "Printed Dress & Blazer" it suggested.

Traveling Scarf - Round #3, Stop #15

And the ideas just keep coming with what to do with a Traveling Scarf! Though the temps have dropped in much of the US, Kristin put a summer idea to work for her.

In her words:
I arrived home last night to find a package waiting for me on the kitchen counter. With breathless anticipation, I opened the package to find THE traveling scarf! The instructions were pretty clear on what to do, but I started to sweat. What do I do with this scarf? I am definitely accessory impaired, and stared at this piece of colorful cloth for what felt like hours. Different colors would pop out at me - pink, teal, white, black... quite overwhelming for a girl who likens her wardrobe to grown-up Garanimals, with predominantly dark solids. This challenge was exactly what I needed to test my creativity and think out of the box and more importantly - outside of my comfort zone of blacks, grays, and the occasional purple.

So... I tried every look I could think of at least once. I even channeled Rhoda Morgenstern by styling a headwrap while I was at work, and captured the moment on my iPhone in the ladies' room. The look failed miserably, especially with the toilet paper dispenser in the background but the look on my face still cracks me up.

The winning look came to me at 5:00 this morning. I absolutely love wearing dresses with leggings, and this embodies my fun/funky style the best. I made the scarf into a pareo dress, belted it, and topped it with an aqua cardi. Hope you like it!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope you are all having a wonderful Thanksgiving. I started my celebration last evening with a non-traditional dinner of Margaritas and Mexican with my small family, today Dave and I are headed to my aunt and uncle's for some turkey and tomorrow Dave's mom and her husband are coming to town (Italian Beef Sandwiches are on the menu).

Daily Outfit - 11/23/10

I feel a bit like I am wearing a tutu today with this skirt made up of 3 layers of tulle over a satiny lining. However, I like it (and others do too - I have received a lot of compliments already this morning)! Since the skirt is a bit dressy on its own with the tulle and sequined embellishment I opted to pair it with all black and a fun, new statement necklace. Next time I think I will try pairing this skirt with a men's oxford shirt (didn't feel like ironing this morning . . . and yes, that is how I decide what to wear somedays!).
