JMS/Just My Size - The Fashion

JMS

I hope you enjoyed reading more about JMS/Just My Size* in yesterday's post. Today I am going to share the fashion that I saw during the Fashion Show on October 20. It was a great event with not only the other Symposium attendees, but I got to meet CeCe of The Big Girl Blog, Lisa Surella VP of Ladies Apparel for Walmart, Nicole Brewer (you might remember her from The Biggest Loser), and Harriette Cole also attended (she spoke the day before and wow, is her resume and experience inspiring).

Check out this video to see the amazing models strut their stuff (you can see me off the right in my red dress too):

And a collage of all the fabulous looks (some of which are available now through Spring 2011):

Can you believe they can offer all of these clothing options at less than $20 per piece?

*Disclosure: JMS/Just My Size provided all of my travel accommodations including flight, hotel and more to attend their Style Symposium. In return, I will be sharing what I saw and heard while attending on FFUF, Facebook and Twitter. I hope you enjoy learning more about the brand.

JMS/Just My Size Style Symposium

JMS

Last week I had the great honor of attending the first ever JMS/Just My Size Style Symposium* in New York City. Not only did they pull together a wonderfully diverse group, that included bloggers, website creators, magazine editors and even the winner of a JMS contest (for links to the attendees and their websites, click here).

Before I headed to New York City I had limited knowledge of the JMS brand. I knew they sold their items through Walmart and online through their own e-commerce site, and in my mind most of their offerings were on the casual side of things.

However, I learned a lot during my quick 48 hours in NYC! Below is just a little bit of the information I gained on the Plus Size Industry and how JMS fits into it.

~ The Plus Size Industry is a $18 Billion Market and the JMS is the #1 Plus Size Brand.

~54% of Walmart Customers are Plus Size, so creating an exclusive deal with Walmart to carry the JMS brand in stores was a good fit (you can shop JMS through their own website and in Hanes Brands Outlet Stores)

~ All of the JMS items are priced at $6-$20

~ JMS wants to truly know their customer and in addtion to standard methods of market research participates in unique efforts such as shop-a-longs and home visits with plus-size women nationwide.

~JMS has partnered with Alvanon to improve their fit and sizing. Alvanon is the apperal fit expert and gains their information by scanning thousands of real people.

~ Creative Director, Janet Freedman and Designer, Regina Martin are both plus sized themselves. They understand that needs to Plus Size women and have a great perspective in fitting all shapes of plus sizes (they are hourglass and apple respectively).

~ The fit model they use for all of their designs is a size 20 vs. other brands that simply "size up" their misses sizing.

~JMS is proud of their denim offerings (different styles and lengths offers) and was recently named one of the top 10 USA jean brands (included both misses & womens brands in one category) by WWD

~They want to continue to keep their "core customer" in mind with their offerings, but are also expanding with their Evolution by JMS line that offers trendier items. Evolution by JMS items were introduced to a limited number of Walmarts in August 2010 and will be in 1500 Walmarts by years end. Also, items are available online (via Walmart.com & JustMySize.com).

~ Just My Size begins their sizing at 16 and goes up to 5X in tees and 4X in other items.

~ JMS recently created the "Slimming Solution Pant" that has a built-in shaper that falls below the knee to slim out that lumps and bumps you may have. The shaper smooths without being tight and uncomfortable.

~JMS designs quarterly and delivers new stock into Walmart on a monthly basis. They like to give each collection a seasonal point of view. While the majority of the collection is designed months in advance, they do keep part of it open for "late breaking news" so they can add in super hot trends closer to the time the line goes to market.

(a peek at the style boards for Summer & Fall 2011)

~ They recently used feedback from a customer (via Facebook) to help get more of a certain size stock at the customer's local Walmart. They love feedback and are constantly looking for it and using it to improve.

~ JMS just released a Fall/Winter 2010 Look Book - be sure to check it out!

To stay up to date on JMS news be sure to like their Facebook page and follow them on Twitter.

Tomorrow I will be back with more fashion highlights from their Fashion Show.

Daily Outfit - 10/29/10

You don't have to be a long time reader of Fab Finds to know that I am not much of a t-shirt and jeans kind of gal. However, when I saw this tee walk the runway at the JMS Fashion Show last week I knew it was the perfect tee for me. I love the longer length, the ruching at the sides, the sleeves and more.

I wrote about my love of this Just My Size Top on Monday and that same day I ordered one for myself. Since there happens to be a Walmart Distribution Center south of Indianapolis I received my order yesterday and of course wore it today!

I kept things pretty simple for the first wearing by pairing it with all black with the exception of my bright pink tank underneath and a little bit of gray flannel on my shoes.

Lace Tights Add a Lot of Pop to An Outfit

shop

Last week while I was in New York I had the pleasure of meeting Erica of Madison Plus. I absolutely fell in love with her outfit of a silk and lace top paired with black cropped pants and killer heels, but it was the addition of the lace tights that really completed the outfit.

Erica - Lace Tights
(Erica at the JMS Style Symposium)

Erica is super on-trend because during those same couple of days in NYC, I spied Olivia Palermo and Taylor Swift wearing lace tights in the November issue of People StyleWatch Magazine. Also, lace tights were the perfect accent to the Simply Be Black Dress in their Fall Lookbook (produced by Madison Plus) that was released less than two weeks ago.

More Lace Tights
(L-R: Erica at an NYC Event, Olivia Palermo in People StyleWatch Magazine, Simply Be Lookbook and Taylor Swift in People StyleWatch Magazine)

Olivia and Taylor are wearing the pricey Wolford Tights at $55+ a pop.

But if you are looking for a lesser priced alternative, check out these pairs:

and here are some more Plus Size Options:

I have to admit, I ordered the Lacy Twist Tights (shown right top corner) from Avenue earlier today and I can't wait to wear them!

Adding Lace to Your Look

checkitout

One of the trends I have a super crush on this fall is all the lace that is available. When I attended the JMS/Just My Size Fashion Show last Wednesday one of the looks that immediately caught my eye and made me think "I need that!" was when they showed a lace printed button up shirt.

Then during my flight home while looking through the November issue of People StyleWatch I was immediately drawn to this picture of January Jones wearing a gorgeous lacey top.

People Style Watch Lace Shirt
(image scanned from 11/10 Issue of People Style Watch)

I think the JMS Lace Shirt which retails for $14 is a great lace option (so great, that I ordered one this morning!). With the lace pattern being printed on and the style of the shirt being a classic button-up it doesn't come across as too frilly and would be suitable to wear out to dinner, to work and more. Just look at some of the looks I quickly pulled together using the shirt:

JMS Lace Shirt

(all items featured above are available in Plus Sizes)
Summary of outfits (clockwise starting from top left):
~ Keep it casual by wearing the shirt layered over a colorful long sleeve tee and jeans
~ Wear it out with jeans and layer a sparkly vest over it
~ Layer the shirt under a dress with the collar and cuffs peeking out
~ Wear with leggings and a long cardigan
~ Hit the town in it by tucking it into a ruffle skirt and leaving an extra button unbuttoned ;-)
~ Wear with a simple black skirt and add a pop of color with a bright cardigan
Will you being adding any lace to your fall wardrobe? What are you going to wear it with?

Daily Outfit - 10/25/10

dailywear

Back to work after a fabulous weekend in Louisville hanging out with 3 of the most awesome chicks ever! Today is supposed to reach almost 80 (seriously, I want some fall temps!), so I grabbed a lightweight shirt and pants (plus, none of the items required ironing and yes, some days that is exactly how I pick my outfits!).

10/25/10

Printed Top - JC Penney, sale for $15 (Spring 2008)
White Lace Trim Cami - Lane Bryant, sale for $15 (Summer 2010)
Necklace - part of a set of 3 necklaces from QVC for $30 (Spring 2010)
Black Belt - NY & Co, sale for $14 (Spring 2009)
Gray Pants - compliments of super sweet reader, Jocelyn
Shoes of Complete Awesomeness - Zappos Outlet, $55 (regularly $250!) (Oct. 2010)

Zappos Outlet

This is old news to my Facebook Friends and Twitter Followers, but yesterday before heading back to Indiana I drove south of Louisville to the Zappos.com Outlet. They were having a fantastic sale (they usually do), and I grabbed these two pairs of shoes. The pair on the left is made by Rock & Republic and they are leopard pony hair with studs. I bought them for $56 (regularly $199). I love how the studs channel so many of the studded Christian Louboutin styles that are so hot right now. The pair on the right is the pair I am wearing today - Modern Vintage Black Leather with Gray Patent and I scored them for $55.50 (regularly $249).

Speaking of Zappos.com, their clearance site, 6pm.com , is offering a great sale on boots again today. Lots of styles under $50 so be sure to check it out.
