Reader Question-Wardrobe Essentials Part 1

ReaderQuestion

Earlier this month, reader Jennifer, asked if I had ever created a list of "wardrobe essentials". I hadn't at the time, but thought it would be a good idea to pull together some Spring/Summer Essentials. In total I came up with six clothing items that I think will be great pieces for mixing and matching especially for spring and summer. Today for Part 1, I'm sharing three and I'll be back with another three tomorrow.

The items I chose were because of the versatility you have in styling them with various other items for a multitude of occasions. Hope you see something you like!

First up, the Patterned Dress!

There are so many great dresses out there that can be layered under and over or simply worn on their own with flats, heels, boots and more. Just look at how you can wear the dress above out for a day of shopping with friends, to a casual wedding or winterize it to get even more mileage out of your closet.

Next up, the Ruffled Shirt!

Ruffles and "girly" details are everywhere for spring. This type of shirt would work great with a pair of khakis or cute cargo pants for dinner out, with jeans and cardi for a casual outing while the temps are still warming up or paired with a floral skirt for a dressier occasion.

Lastly (for today) - the Striped Tee!

A couple of years ago I never wore horizontal stripes, but now I can't resist their chic-ness and the instant oomph they can add to an outfit. This will become your go-to tee to pair under a sheath dress for work, with a floral skirt for brunch or a shower, or paired with jeans and kicks for a casual day out and about.

Tomorrow, I will be back with 3 more great spring essentials!

I like that striped tee/floral skirt combo. I never think to do that, but it always looks great.

I love patterned dresses more than any other piece of clothing in my closet. They're so easy and so versatile, even more versatile than solid dresses, I think.
