Daily Outfit - 02/12/10

dailywear

Today's Outfit Inspiration Calendar called for "Soft Hues a la J.Crew" which was an idea submitted by Lindsay. She noted that, "I'd love to see the outfit you would put together since you tend to wear more saturated colors and black and gray. Which you wear fabulously by the way. ;)". Thanks, Lindsay, and you are totally right I don't tend to wear pastels and pale colors. In fact I had to flip through all sorts of hangers last evening to find a soft colored shirt to wear under this cardigan. It's kind of odd that I don't wear more soft colors because I always think the looks are gorgeous when I flip through J. Crew catalogs or walk through the store.

Thanks for making me try something new, Lindsay!

Soft Pink Tee - Armani Exchange Outlet, on sale for $6 (2008)
Gray Ruffle Neck Cardigan - Old Navy, super clearance for $6 (Jan. 2009)
Blue Flower Pin - NY & Co, $4-ish? (Summer 2009)
2 Gray Flowers - PresumptousMe/esty, $25 (Fall 2009)
Jeans - INC/Macy's, on sale for $47 (Jan. 2010)
Gray Boots - Avenue, on sale for $25 (Dec. 2009)
Necklace - DIY (2007)

Speaking of this necklace, when I made it almost 3 years ago it seemed HUGE!! I made it after seeing a Swarovski Necklace as part of some charity sale, but since it retailed for $500+ I knew I wouldn't be buying one anytime soon. However, once it was complete I felt like I had a chandelier around my neck! That just shows how much my taste and also fashion has changed over the past 3 years. Now with all of the large statement jewelry pieces it seems right in style, and I no longer feel odd wearing it. It made me smile when I saw the page below in March's Marie Claire Magazine - looks like my necklace is going to be in style for a while longer yet!

Also, I did some further updating of Fab Finds Under $50 last evening. Now across the top you will see quick links to a couple of pages I created. You can now easily access the Outfit Inspiration Calendars, past Reader Questions and how to submit your own, a page of looks and things I am loving right now and a Deals and Steals page on which I will share promo codes and sale notices that I have received. With that I also adjusted the information in the side columns and hope it will be a bit more user friendly!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

You look great and your style is inspiring! Thanks for the blog. I just had to brag -- this morning, I was able to snag $982 in clothes on lanebryant.com for $119! I shopped their clearance and used a gift cheque ($50 off $150).

Thought I'd pass on the love and my deals!

That is awesome!! That is some super bargain shopping right there. I order 4 things from LB yesterday that would have been $253, but only paid $88 (includ. S&H) and one thing was even full price. :-) Gotta love good deals! Thanks for sharing!

Love that shade of dove gray with the blue brooch! I'm dying to try pastels, too. They seem so "Marie Antoinette" to me (in a good way).

You look wonderful. I'm not much of a pastel person because I feel washed out in them.

I love your necklace.

That necklace! I need to make one! I guess I never really wear pastels either... perhaps I should give it a try because you look lovely! I especially like the soft brooch!

You do J.Crew better than J.Crew does, lady! And I might have to quiz you on how you made those navigational links happen at the top of the site ...

Did you and Hillary have a seminar for blog layouts because she just changed hers, too in a very simalr way! I love it and I'm jealous, and I wish I had the patience to fiddle with my html for a better layout. You look lovely in pastels, btw. Great look!

This outfit is seriously great!

I love how the muted colors really make your face and hair POP- this outfit has beautiful details, but instead of wearing you, YOU wear them! I'd love to see more of this soft new Kimberly (once in awhile, since I also love your normal style)!

Thanks, ladies. The soft colors are nice, but man I'm I attracted to bright ones (I just ordered a red dress!).

Sal - I use blogger and the pages is a new feature (more details here:http://www.quickonlinetips.com/archives/2010/02/how-to-create-pages-in-blogger/)

Becky - Had no idea she was doing it also. It is a new feature with Blogger though so you will probably see more and more blogs add the feature.
