Daily Outfit - 01/25/10

dailywear

Ahhh, Monday - they seem to roll around so fast! However, they make up about 1/7th of your life, so better enjoy it.

Today the Outfit Inspiration Calendar called for Polka Dots, so I thought it would be a great day to break out my new polka dot bow tie. I have wanted a bow tie for a while now and kept thinking I would find one at a thrift store. However, whenever I would find one it would be pre-tied and wouldn't work with the look I had envisioned. So, when I won a gift card I could use at ABCNeckties (an affiliate company of Handbag Heaven, Affordable Scarves and Inexpensive Watches that I highly recommend!) I knew I had to order one up!

It looks fabulous! I'm curious-- how do you keep the black dress looking so good (I mean care- do you dry clean only?) My blacks always seem to fizzle out sooner than other colors. If you're using detergent, any particular brand?

GB73 - I seldom dry clean actually. I hate all of those chemicals not to mention the cost!

I don't wash this dress every time I wear it for one. Since I almost have a layer under it I don't really find it necessary since most days I just sit in an office. I do use Woolite for Dark Laundry for things such as this though. I think it does help keep the color.

Another gorgeous outfit! Your skin looks beautiful against the magenta, and I am loving the untied bowtie!!! I've seen that embelishment on a lot of dresses lately, and I never thought to actually put an untied bowtie on a dress already in my closet. Brilliant! Do you just pin it on? Or use fashion tape?

Great look! Thanks for sharing the tip on keeping black "black" because I find it fades out quickly, too.

Thanks for the tip Kimberly!I don't make too many trips to the drycleaners either- I'm going to try and stock some woolite for our blacks.

Wow! I find old men's bow-ties all the time while thrifting but never pick them up - this is the perfect way to wear them! What a versatile dress!

i never, ever would've thought that a woman could wear a bowtie as a scarf-- such a genius idea!
