When I saw that today's Outfit Inspiration Calendar called for a "Dress with a Major Necklace" I knew just the necklace I wanted to wear. I spied this necklace at Banana Republic back in the fall and loved it, but with its $90 price tag knew it wouldn't be coming home with me anytime soon. So when I saw it had been marked down to $20 with an additional 15% off I snatched it right up when I ordered some Old Navy stuff after Christmas. I have worn it before, but today marks the necklace's debut appearance on the blog - love it!
Dress - Dressbarn, clearance for $26 (Sept. 2009)
Gray Turtleneck - NY & Co, clearance for $10 (Dec. 2008)
Necklace - Banana Republic, clearance for $17 (Dec. 2009)
Belt - came with dress
Gray Suede Heels - Nine West/TJ Maxx, $35 (Nov. 2009)
When I bought this dress I knew immediately I was going to ditch the cropped matching jacket that came with it and was envisioning wearing it as a jumper with a layer under it like I am today. Kind of funny that of the three times I have worn it previously I haven't worn it that way and instead have layered various cardigans over the dress.

If you follow me on Twitter (@FabFinds50) you saw yesterday my "lovely" artistic drawing of the outfit I am wearing today. I sketched it out in my Fashionary Sketchbook which lets even the most inartisitc person (aka me) create sketches resembling outfits. So, if you have always dreamed of being a fashion designer or just want to sketch out some of your potential wardrobe ideas I highly recommend ordering one of the sketchbooks. Hillary of by Hillary has been sharing some of her sketches over the past couple of days also - so fun to see!
Lastly, there has been some talk around the blogosphere about Fashion Bloggers going too far to impress (spawned by Allie of My Wardrobe Today's and more written over at Budgetnista). While I enjoy the mix that the fashion blogger community offers, I wanted to take this moment and thank you all for sticking with my blog. I may pose only 3 different ways and take my picture in the same exact spot every day, but I strive to keep it real and just be me. Me being someone that can't afford couture and spends at least 11 hours a day either driving to work or working leaving not a lot of time for personal activities. I view this blog as a personal way to share with my friends outfits I wear and deals I spy. So, BIG THANK YOU to you, my friend, for reading and wanting to be part of my world!

I check your blog almost daily and love seeing the outfits you put together... what I really love is how "real" you are. Keep up the good work!
Don't be influenced by the other blogs! Your's is the one I go to when I need inspiration with my wardrobe. Like you, I work alot and in a professional environment, so some of the things I see on other blogs while interesting, are not even a little helpful for a regular person!!
Thanks!
I love that your keeping true to yourself and what you enjoy in the fashion blogosphere. You've been a huge inspiration to me and my wardrobe, and I'm enjoying going through the January inspiration calendar for the first time!
Can I also say you are very inspiring to me also in that I can't afford couture fashion, let alone $90 jeans, and I see how wonderfully you wear your fashion finds and bargains.
I adore statement necklaces and Banana Republic do them so well! I've amassed quite the collection from them over the past year! Love the one you bought.
Yours was the first fashion blog I ever started reading and is still the first one I turn to in the morning. Don't stop! :)
thanks for posting! It's always fun to see how other people put outfits together! You do a great job of mixing it up.
I like this outfit- a bunch. I actually want a pair of grey heels and I was going to shop for some today! Color me jealous of yours! :)
I love your necklace and I really love the fact that you look/act like a real person. I'm not interested in frou-frou fashion that can't be worn in day to day life.
I love this dress and how versatile it is.
I <3 you for a multitude of reasons, but the fact that you DO stand in your living room and wear real clothing tops the list.
First, great dress and love it styled this way. It's fun to see the two different colors!
Second, you are a real woman with real clothes and a real life. You do what you do here and you do it well! We all come check you out everyday for a reason. :) So thank you for doing it! (did that make any sense??)
awesomely cute outfit! i'm not really a big necklace fan, but that really zushes up the oufit quite nicely!
is it my imagination or are you getting skinny? you always look awesome!
from $90 to $17??? how worth the wait! lucky girl! u look fab!
p.s. -- and you do keep it real and i LOVE that about you. you help us hard working ladies just have goood, clean fun with fashion ... and actually enjoy it and not have to wory about brand names and all that. why spend a million bucks to look "good" while u can look FABULOUS under $50? :-) keep on and work it! :-)
and its so true ... who in the world has time to go in the forest just to take pics of their outfit that day anyway? really? i know i dont ... shoot, i gotta work! ... hahaha!
I'm with Ally. I *like* bloggers who post in their yards or their living rooms and seem like someone I would actually like to be friends with. I like real. Keep it up ;-)
Also I like those shoes. And I like your dress all the ways you've worn if but the ruffly cardi might be my favorite.
May I have this dress when you're done with it? I love all the ways you've styled it. Your comments and those of Allie and others are the exact reason I haven't updated my blog in 5 months. I don't feel up to snuff...I should get over it.
Your blog is awesome! I'm amazed at all of the different styles of posts you are able to handle while working/commuting full time... you are talented, beautiful, and have a serious eye for fashion :) xoxo
That is one fabulous dress!!!!
Don't worry about what other bloggers are doing! I read your blog every day and check the inspiration calendars. The main reason I keep coming back is that you are so real, a regular person like me who doesn't need or want to spend tons of money on clothes but still wants to look good. Keep up the wonderful work you've been doing because your blog is such an inspiration!
Your fashion blog is the ONLY one I read, Bc it's the only one that's "accessible" to me. Other blogs are just too overwhelming. The clothes are way too expensive and the blogger is much thinner than I am and they don't live in this cold Midwest and they don't work full time. You know? From reading your blog and seeing your pictures I now find myself looking at clothes and my own wardrobe in a different way. So good jib!
*good job -- duh. :-)
I've been faithfully reading your blog for about 8 months and yours tops my list of favorites for all of the reasons everyone else has already stated. I work in an environment where I am expected to dress professionally, but I don't have a budget for expensive clothes. Your blog always inspires me and reminds me that it's all about the fit and styling, not the price!
