Reader Question - To Ugg or not to Ugg?

ReaderQuestion

Just like everyone else, I LOVE your blog and I check it everyday, even at work! (shhhhh) I want to know how you feel about Ugg boots. I have noticed that people either love them or hate them. I personally like them and got a pair of chestnut (light brown) ones for Christmas after giving my boyfried several hints! Do you think they can be stylish? Do you have any ideas on how to make them look fashionable and cute? Or do you say "NO WAY" to this trend? I would love to know.

Thanks a bunch, Sarah

Sarah, you are too sweet. Congrats on the new Uggs and having a boyfriend that picks up on hints! :-)

Personally, I am all about functional fashion, and with that I am for Uggs when they are worn "appropriately". What I mean is when they are worn in the winter when keeeping warm is called for and with casually styled outfits. With those two things they are all good in my opinion. Living in the midwest I understand wanting to toss on jeans and comfy boots when it is cold and snowy outside and needing to run weekend errands or grab a casual dinner out.

However, putting them on in November and wearing them daily till March is a bit much. So, I guess what I am saying is Uggs in moderation is great as long as you watch what you pair them with. Let's take a look:

What not to wear them with - even if your life is being threatened! :-)

I totally agree with your dos and donts. Anything summery with Uggs just seems like a really bad faux pas!

My daughter absolutely loves Uggs...and I've never been crazy about them, but for two days our temps have been low enough I'd consider a pair for warmth...lol.

I love the dos pictures you used. I'm showing them to her for some inspiration.

I Love Uggs, they are worth every penny. If you take care of them they will last forever :)

I agree with your 100%! Sometimes it's a necessity in the winter months, but I've seen waaayy too many uggs + sweatpants combo (especially when I'm on campus), which is always a disaster. I love the tweedy-looking alternatives. Adorable!

No matter how someone coordinates their outfits, I just can't get into Uggs. Usually, I see booty shorts, a barely there tank, and Uggs. Come on, ladies, really?! Yeah, I pretty much loathe them. Just can't handle it...

Love the uggs for coooold days
i like that you added the do's and dont's....i've seen uggs out on summer days...way too hot for them..they should be stored away during summer

I'm with Erin. I loathe Uggs. There are so many other stylish, warm boots (and I live in Michigan, so I have firsthand experience battling the cold).

I totally agree with you on your do's and don'ts. To me, Uggs are a very casual and functional shoe, and they should only be worn with casual outfits that actually make sense. So many people wear them with shorts in Florida, and it just looks ridiculous.

Personally, I like the look of short Uggs over tall Uggs, because I think that they're a bit more flattering.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question! I love what you came up with and I probably would have committed one of the don'ts (t-shirts) had it not been for you enlightening me!!! It makes sense now! Thanks again!

You are so dead on here. They look cute with skinny jeans...not so much with sweat pants.
