Daily Outfits - 10/03/09 & 10/05/09 + DIY Time

dailywear

Today I just had to give my "new" cardigan from this weekend's DIY a go (look below for details). To tone down the sparkliness of it I paired it with a plaid button up and simple black.

Cardigan - NY & Co, on sale for $20 (Fall 2008) + Thrifted/DIY Cuffs
Black Sheath Dress - Target, clearance for $15 (2007)
Blue Plaid Shirt - NY & Co, on sale + coupon for $23 (Summer 2009)
Belt - NY & Co, on sale + promo code for $10 (May 2009)
Blue Shoes - Lela Rose for Payless, $35 (August 2009)
Necklace - Gifted

On Saturday I decided to try tucking in my jeans. I love the look on others, but haven't ever tried it myself. Can't wait to get the pair of "luggage" colored boots that I ordered - I think they will be great with jeans.

While out thrifting over the weekend the gorgeous cuffs on this dress caught my eye. However, I knew the dress was something I would never wear! After looking at the cuffs closely I determined that all of the beadwork was done on a piece of material that was then whipstitched onto the dress, making it easy to remove the cuffs in tact.

I decided for the whopping $1.87 the dress was priced at it was worth it just for the cuffs. Yesterday while catching up on Project Runway I removed the cuffs from the dress and added them to a black cardigan I had at home already. Love adding a little sparkle to my every day wardrobe!

I love those cuffs, especially paired with your blue shoes! As for tucking jeans into boots, I haven't had much luck...my skinny black pants did the trick on Friday, but I don't own jeans that are tapered enough to fit into my boots without looking bulky. I might have to get a pair of skinny jeans just for boots purposes!

What a great way to cash in on the gorgeousness of those cuffs! Will you repurpose the dress, too, now that it's cuff-free?

Good question, Sal! Removing the cuffs didn't do any damage to the dress and if you didn't know they were ever on it your wouldn't know it. Since the dress isn't my style I am just going to re-donate it back to the thrift store.

i love that DIY cuff idea, and the cardi looks great with the blue shoes! Also super jealous of your thrift finds...that same dress would be $15 here in New York. Ugh.

I'm wearing a houndstooth skirt and I played around with my camera yesterday so I should be able to update my blog using a not-as-crappy pic! Huzzah!

I love the look of jeans tucked into boots, I've just never been brave enough to try. I am feeling inspired after your attempt...and will try to recreate the look soon.

Adding the cuffs to your cardi was so crafty and definitely fab looking.
