When I spied this purple mini-cable knit sweater while thrifting I almost passed since it really isnt't my style. But when I factored in it wasa great color, my size, mint condition, good quality (Land's End) and less than a $1 I really couldn't leave it behind.
So, yesterday when Already Pretty's Sal posted the LL Bean vs. J.Crew Cage Match I saw this picture of a J.Crew styling and immediately thought of my cable knit sweater.
And with that I tossed this on this morning. I threw on a necklace and gray heels to add some additional interest eventhough overall the look is pretty bland.

your bland is another woman's fancy! :) You look wonderful, and I LOVE the items you added for visual interest!
Kim -
It's hard to tell from your pic - is the flower attached to your belt? Your pants? Your sweater?
Bland? I think NOT! That flower at your waistband is anything but bland. (Thanks for the shout-out, btw.)
I don't think it looks bland either! Another inspired outfit. That sweater was a fabulous steal and it looks great on you. I think you should mix it in more!
Not bland at all! I LOVE the ultra glam necklace with the purple and the flower. So very chic, so very fall :)
I don't think it's bland either!! I LOVE the look! Please show us how you made that necklace - it's fantastic!
I have a problem with plain sweaters too, sometimes, but the trick is to accessorize, as you did fabulously here!
I don't have the post about my 'make the most of your closet' ready yet, but today's outfit was inspired by the outfit you made for me #46 :) I have never mixed patterns before, but you gave me the idea ;D

I can't believe that sweater was only $1. Love the flower there I never would have thought to out it there. Thanks for all the inspiration you give.
I like how you spiced this outfit up. I can't believe you made that necklace!
I'm a huge fan of your allegedly "bland" outfit - such a cute flower and THAT NECKLACE - LOVE!
Thanks, ladies!! I remember when I first made this necklace a couple of years ago it seemed huge, but it seem perfectly acceptable with all of the large statement pieces that are so prevalent!
Caramelcream, the flower has a pin back and a hairclip on it, so I just clipped it to the waistband of my pants and scrunched up the sweater behind it.
Meli said it best...bland? Are you kidding me? It's fantastic look. I love the shoes and the flower pin too..
love the purple and grey, and i think that the unexpected flower placement and intricate necklace are interest enough :D
