Speaking of shoes, I have received a couple of questions regarding very heels so frequently and if I actually do wear the pair I photograph through out the day. I received this question last evening, so thought I should take a minute to answer.
Hi Kimberly,
I've been following the Fab Finds Under $50 blog for a while and love it!
I have a question about shoes...
You tend to wear a lot of discount heels; they look completely gorgeous,
but I find the less expensive shoes kill my feet! Do you have any
secrets for wearing cute and inexpensive heels without being crippled by
the end of the day?
Thanks!
Adriane
Well, Adriane, thanks for the question and the Fab Finds Under $50 love! I do have an array of heels with most of them falling under the $40 mark. Now a large portion of my favorite shoes are Nine West that are normally around the $80-90 mark, but I score on good sales for $20-25. Nine West is truly my favorite brand because you can get a nice, leather pair in fun colors and styles for a great price (heck, less than what Payless is charging lately!) if you watch your sales and utilize online discounters like 6pm.com.
Now, for the other pairs, I honestly don't have any tips! I have had pairs of $100 BCBGirls shoes that have absolutely killed and pair of $20 Payless ones that I could walk miles in. I think it all depends on the particular pair of shoes and their design.
I know a lot of people utilize various pads and insoles to help cushion their step, but I honestly only have these in one pair (and what do you know, they are a pair of $90 Naughty Monkey heels). Everyone's feet are different, and I feel fortunate that mine allow me to wear the heels I do with minimum discomfort. I wish I had some great secret to share, but unfortunately not!
As for the reader (sorry, I can't recall the name) that asked if I only sport my heels for pictures and then change into something more comfortable - nope! What you see if what I wear all day. Now, I admit my job is about 65% sitting in my office or meetings with the rest of it being out walking around my properties. I do keep an array of short wedges or flats around (in my car and desk drawer) for when I do need to walk around outside in the grass or around downtown since the cobblestones and pavement tears up heels so badly. But I would say I only swap out my heels of the day about 90% of the time.
Thanks for asking!

Love the outfit today! One tip I have about killer high heels is to go up a size. I find that the higher the heel, I usually am more comfortable if I go up a 1/2 size. I think my feet may swell more so the extra room is necessary to not be crippled by the end of the day!. I also am not a fan of mail order shoes...I need to try them on and walk around the store for awhile to get a feel for comfort.
I have a few tips.
I walk 5 miles on a slow day. So I need to be COMFY. I do often change when I get to work but I still walk a lot at work. Things that work for me
Dr.Scholls friction block. It looks like a big purple glue stick and it makes a big difference.
Dr.scholls pretty inner soles. They come in a 3 pack for about 9 bucks they are the cheapest on the market and they are meant for even open toed shoes so they are cute and functional and you dont mind if people see them.
moleskin. (not made from moles) cut to fit on spots that rub.
make friends with a cobbler. They can stretch shoes in spots they rub and have suggestions for comfort.
Here is a pair with innersoles in them

Also leather shoes are the best for extended wear (breathable over pleather or plastic shoes)
And like kimberly said you can always get good shoes on the cheap. I have cole haan nike air heels I got for a steal.
Love the shoes! It also cracks me up about the high's and low's of magazines. I find it humorous that a $100 shirt is considered affordable.
Lovely! Those ruffles and shoes!!! :)
I have a serious case of shoe envy!
LOVE these!! So cute.
The high/low sections of fashion mags crack me up too.
you need to go to ninewest.com ;) you get a 20% discount your birthday month on an order (no limit on $), the have sales online all the time, free shipping all the time, and you can call customer service to find a shoe in your size if it's out online in a store and have it shipped to you (I did this). I have scored tons of fab shoes under $50! Originally $80 and up! Plus, as you spend you earn 10 points per dollar- and when you have 1500 points, you get a great discount on your next order.
The new shoes are divine! And isn't it funny how spendy shoes can be downright painful, and cheaper ones comfy? Works the other way, too, though, I've found. Totally depends on the shoe and the shape of your foot.
hell, i've gotten fab shoes under $25 there. And as for fit and comfort- they take returns ;)
Very nice! That yellow top is very jcrew-esque, and I loveth the new fun shoes.
I found inner pads, medical tape, bandaids and other stuff helps. I never get sore feet from walking, only time my heels hurt me is if they cause a blister on a toe or the heel. So as long as I do the things I have learned I am good. But I am going to try to get some of that stick stuff a commentor mentioned.
Plus everyone should try shoemetro on ebay. I have gotten ninewest, betty's, steve maddens for under 20 a pair.
That yellow top is so pretty and feminine. And AGIAN love the heels. You have got a great collection of heels.
Pretty top....LOVE the Pucci shoes!
Love the whole outfit, head to toe, but I am sitting here with huge blisters, sore foot pads and a bad arch. Ihad bandaids, blister blocker, corn pads and mole skin, nothing works. It is my second day of school,I bought all these gorgeous shoes this summer (when I forget my feet are so bad) so I guess i have a bad attitude. I feel like becoming one of those people who wear dresses with sneakers. Yikes!
you look great!Great blog! Please check out my fashion and lifestyle blog www.andeelayne.blogspot.com! Please follow mine as i will yours! xo
You look great Kimberly - as always. I love the new heels. Yellow is such a fun color to have shoes in.
I wear heels about 95% of the time (although the past 2 weeks I have had a knee injury that is requiring I wear flats) and also wear them throughout the day. People I work with often ask me how I do it as well. Here is my advice:
* Really try the shoe on before purchasing, walk around for a few minutes. I find that this helps me figure out if it is truly the right size.
* I went up a half size in most of my shoes from what I used to wear before falling in love with heels.
* Break new shoes in by wearing them to half-day events or out to dinner first.
* Bring a few bandaids on days when you break new shoes in, this does wonders.
* Find a few brands that really fit your feet well - Mine are Naughty Monkey, Nine West, and Chinese Laundry - these brands will typically have comfortable shoes in various styles.
* When getting a pedicure, don't let them touch the balls of your feet.
* Start off with 1 or 2 inch heels and wear them for a while then gradually added taller heels if you want them.
* Thicker heels usually mean added comfort and stability (hence why Naughty Monkey are soo good for me)
* Wedges also are great for height and comfort.
I also say that sometimes a little bit of discomfort or pain is worth it to me if I love a pair of shoes and they are perfect for an outfit. I am in no way saying others should follow this last piece of advice, but I do wear not the most comfortable shoes at times if I absolutely love them.
I have also decided that it is not worth it to me to buy knowingly uncomfortable shoes just because they are gorgeous. I find that I don't get enough wear out of them and that I will always be able to find a comfortable to me pair that I will love just as much.
Also - one more trick I have learned to help maintain my heels... take them off when driving if you have thick mats in your car. I drive an XTerra with really thick rubber mats, driving puts nicks and what not in the heel. I wear flipflops to drive in a lot. In the winter I wear snowboots outside if needed and also wear rainboots when necessary. There is no reason to ruin your shoes in the elements.
Those shoes are GORGEOUS! Loving your entire outfit :)
what a lady!! you look so sophisticated today (not like you dont normally, but something about the outfit!) :)
oh, and is the traveling scarf still going?
LOVE the shoes!!
I have been eyeing those shoes for weeks!! I have even had them in my cart for the last 4 days. I may just have to bite the bullet now....
oh dear. those shoes are making my heart beat really really fast! they are hardcore awesome!!
Thanks for all of the great tips about shoes!
Sometimes I think I need to bite the bullet and realize that beauty is pain, but other times it's just unbearable (I'm thinking of a pair of $20 Target heels).
Also, thanks for the recommendations for where to buy nicer shoes on sale! Bookmarking those for sure!

Give me those shoes!
