Pairing this black and white skirt with plain white on the top seems a bit boring and predictable. But I think with the addition of the green necklaces, purple shoes and the jacket's interesting detailing it keeps the look from being a yawn.

i agree with you!! i think this is a great combo. i adore green and purple but by themselves they can be a bit overwhelming. i think this allows both colors to shine.
That ring is SUCH fun!
Black and white is a classic pairing. Classics are classics because they work; never boring.
I loved the jacket... I wouldn't wear it in white though, but that's just because I look super pale wearing white.
I like the added color
hi Kim,
I'm a new reader and I really like your blog, you always look fabulous and I particularly like the way you use belts and scarves as belts esp your belted cardigan look. I've posted this question before but it was on an old post so you prob didn't see it.
I was wondering if there are rules/keys to pulling this look off? Can someone who is er, a little large on the top pull it off without overemphasizing the 'girls'? I'm 5'2 with a 34 DD bust and I read on another blog that big busted girls should avoid belting particularly when I am also short with a short waist! But I do so love that look!
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Michelle
Ah, I remember this skirt from my Gap-workin' days! It's a good one :) Are you wearing anything underneath the jacket? I'd be concerned about a snap rebelling and leaving me exposed!
Cute skirt...how did i miss this one?
and i have a very similar jacket, that i bought like 2 months ago and yet to wear it. Nice!
I agree - the necklace and shoes really make the outfit. The fact that the blouse has interesting buttons doesn't hurt either :)
I love these shoes!
