I'm going to the US Open (golf) in NYC this June. My husband and I will be walking around all day so I need some comfy yet stylish shoes for walking. I also need a fashionable outfit that will withstand the hot temps. What would YOU wear if this were you? Oh and keep in mind they frown upon bright colors - the trick is to blend in with the crowd as to not distract the golfers :o)
Oh wow, I have to admit this question was a bit tricky for me. The NYC part sounds lovely, but the walking around in the golf course watching golfers isn't exactly my cup of tea (no offense, I am just a horrible golfer and therefor distance myself from the sport!). However, every summer I deal with this - what is the perfect outfit for a day outdoors?
I gathered up four different outfits that I think will keep you cool, comfortable and chic for the US Open.
First off - Preppy! The lightweight knit cardi probably won't be needed out on the course, however, you may need it if you stop inside someplace and they have the AC blasting (in the meantime, you can simply loop it over the cross-body bag).

Secondly, a Neapolitan ice cream dream! Now I know you said neutral colors are preferred, but I think you would be okay adding a pop of color with your accessories. Once again the cross-body bag will keep your goodies (i.e. sunscreen, etc) near by while being lightweight and easy to carry.

Option Three - Green the color of grass. That blends in and doesn't distract, right? The lightweight cargos and comfy sneaks paired with the fun scarf and bangles will keep you fashionable and comfortable all day long.

Option Four - Safari Chic. This look is definitely neutral, but the fun accessories will keep you from blending in for sure. Tie one of the cotton bandannas around the handle of your purse or around your wrist as a bracelet (an added bonus is you can use it to wipe your forehead if you happen to start "glistening"!).

My outfit will look similar to the first one though I'll wear a pair of lacoste sneakers...My poor, stupid broken foot has (mostly) healed, but it's keeping me from wearing the shoes I'd like to wear...(whining, sorry.)
And I have to say that I'm pretty excited to see other golf loving, NYC peeps depending on you for fashion advice as I do.
I forgot to add that I always bring a cap to events like this because I have a tendency to burn even with sunscreen. Just saying..

I actually looked at some Lacoste sneakers the other day and love them. I got some pink bermuda shorts the other day as well. So I'm getting there!
Well firstly my husband would be green with envy at the thought of going to the golf.(he thinks he is Tiger Woods) he does play a mean game though. All the outfits look so stylish, I have seen some many women at the golf looking worse for wear. Enjoy, and please tell me that your husband is not one of those men who yell out"get in the hole" at tee off! LOL
