I am happy to report I am back to the land of the living today! Today is the first day I have put on makeup since last Friday which I do believe is the longest period I have gone without since 7th grade when I started wearing Clinique Eyeshadow. Thanks so much for all of the sweet well wishes over the past couple of days!

Now, ladies, I need your help! With being so sick this past weekend my prep time for my big b-day weekend has been drastically shortened! On Saturday we are having a Pre-Bar Crawl Party at our place for my family and friends. I am planning on having lots of appetizers for it along with some food that will still be good for the Post-Party that will probably take place, as well. I haven't been able to think and plan out what I want to make or buy at Sam's yet.
So, give me ideas for awesome appetizers to have (the easier they are the better too!). If you really wow me there might even be something in it for ya!

OK- YOU LOOK SO CUTE! And, I'm going to email you some of my fave "Shit, how did I neglect to prepare for this party now I need to get it together fast" appetizers.
LOVE these little "crackers"
<3 Jess
Savory Parmesan Rosemary Shortbread Rounds
1¾ C flour
¾ C plus 2 TBSP grated Parmesan cheese (about 2½ oz)
1 tsp coarse kosher salt
½ small garlic clove, minced
1 TBSP minced fresh rosemary
Pinch of cayenne pepper
1 C chilled, unsalted butter, cut into ½ inch cubes (2 sticks)
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper/Silpat.
Mix flour, ¾ C Parmesan cheese, salt, garlic, rosemary, and cayenne pepper in processor.
Add butter and, using on/off turns, process until dough begins to come together. **
Gather dough into a ball.
Divide dough in half.
Roll each half into 12-inch log, wrap in plastic wrap and chill for at least an hour.
Preheat oven to 350F.
Slice each log into thin rounds and transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment or a Silpat.
Sprinkle remaining 2 TBSP Parmesan cheese over the rounds.
Bake the shortbread rounds until tops are dry and bottoms are golden brown, about 20 minutes.
Transfer shortbread rounds to rack and cool completely.
**Dough may be rather dry at this point. If so, add a splash or two of milk (1 to 2 TBSP).
Came across your blog and I love your style :) I'm in Indiana too...trying to get through all this snow!
Love that pic of you! How cute!
Here's a so simple appetizer that guys love:
fresh jalapeno peppers
cream cheese
shredded cheddar cheese
packages bacon
Cut them in half lengthwise and take out seeds. Fill with cream cheese, sprinkle with cheddar and wrap in 1/2 slice bacon. Bake at 450 degree oven for 10 to 15 minutes til bacon is cooked.
I really like that scarf!
Ok, two appetizers that were a hit at xmas but can be used whenever are on foodnetwork.com, just put in their site search:
Crescent Bacon-Cheese Tartlets
Crescent Holiday Appetizer Tree
- I left out the broccoli and you can put it in a circle instead of a tree!
-Use a really sharp knife to cut the crescent roll log or they get messed up as you cut.
I love making boneless wings - Just cut strips of of boneless chicken thighs and marinate them in honey-garlic sauce, crushed ginger, soy sauce, salt and pepper. Roast them in a hot oven till crisp and serve hot! I also have a food blog (http://www.hookedonheat.com) with tons of fun ideas, so you could definitely give it a look see! Happy wonderful B'day - I turn 30 in June too and an super excited! :)

I heart those earrings!!!!
Cute scarf! I always make guacamole (who doesn't love this?), little taquitos (frozen), queso (crock pot), mini quiche, cheese plate w/crackers or bread, etc etc.
Love this outfit! You've just inspired my Friday look for tomorrow :)
As for apps...I'm assuming Sam's club is like Costco..they have the best bruschetta mix...just scoop onto little baguettes and top with feta or goat's cheese or leave plain too. Easy peezy!
http://www.recipezaar.com/Ww-Asian-Meatballs-208817
and they are pretty healthy, too! I make them for dinner regularly, but they are supposed to be an appetizer. I also always love a brick of cream cheese with salsa on top with triscuits.
I am glad you are feeling better!
I forgot, I add fresh ground goinger to the meatballs.
sometimes i love conversation piece appetizers like the cream cheese penguins. easy to make and so darn cute!

have fun!
Happy Birthday!
This is a layered dip my aunt gave the recipe for, it may sound a little weird, but I swear if you try it, you will love it!!
YOu need:
1 (8 oz) package of cream cheese(doesn't have to be softened)
1 can black beans- drained and rinsed
1 can original rotel- drained
Shredded cheddar cheese(enough to cover)
Preheat oven to 350. In an 8 x 8" glass dish (if you don't have this just double the recipe and use a larger dish) layer the cream cheese first, spreading evenly. Then top with beans, evenly, then the rotel and top with cheese. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Serve with tortilla chips. *A little side note, I do not care for beans usually but I will scarf this puppy down in no time!
this may not be quite up your alley, but everytime I have a party I get a Honey Baked Ham. People. eat. it. up.
Put out the ham (room temp), slice up different kinds of rolls, put out little bowls of mustard and mayo--- and you are good for like 8 hours.
So glad you're feeling better and hope you have a great birthday!
Blinis with sour cream and smoked salmon always go down well. I also love mini oat cakes topped with pate and red onion relish.
Can you tell I love mini things? and also that I am a lazy cook?
I'm no good with appetizers (I'm usually the mooch that comes over and eat what other prepare)...but you look great. I'm glad you are feeling better. :O)
Glad you're feeling better
Pizza's on Rye
1 lb Hamburger - crumbled and cooked
1 lb Sausage (zesty sausage is good) - crumbled & cooked (can cook with hamburg)
1 lb Velveeta (1/2 block I think)
1 tsp Oregano
1 tsp Garlic Salt
1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 package of Cocktail size Rye breads
(Fennel seeds add a bit of Italian flavor as well)
1. Crumble and cook Hamburger and Sausage together.
2. Add in Oregano, Garlic Salt and Wrocestershire Sauce while cooking.
3. Add in Velveeta cheese until cheese is melted.
4. Spread rye breads out onto baking sheet (do not grease sheet).
5. Spoon Hamburg, Sausage, Cheese mixture onto rye breads (a good dollup will do ).
6. Bake for about 10 minutes on 350.
You can make these the night before and refrigerate or you can serve right away. They can be reheated (in the microwave or oven - oven, personally I think, is better) OR they are good cold. Either way. YUM

Caprese Salad
-Sliced tomatoes
-Mozzerella Cheese
-Fresh Basil Leaves
-Extra Virgin Olive Oil, OR Fat Free Italian dressing
Just start with tomato slices, top with slices of cheese, pieces of basil, and drizzle the oil or dressing over the top. The traditional dish uses the oil, but we use the dressing cuz it adds a little kick.
Hey kimberly, Love your blog! Just wanted to say happy b-day and give you my bestest and easiest (and pretty cheap) apetizer recipe:
1 package of tortillas
1 package 1/3 less fat cream cheese
1 jar salsa
1 package taco seasoning.
1 package (2 cups)mild cheddar cheese
Combine the cream cheese, salsa, and cheese into a bowl. Season w/taco seasoning to taste (I usually use 2/3 package). Then, you take your "filling" and spread it onto the tortillas, rolling them up like you would the "pinwheels" apetizer. I like to refridgerate them before cutting them. Also, for the tortillas, the more flexible the better (so they don't split as you roll them). Enjoy!

I love the pop of green under the collar. I am happy you are joining us for the Michelle Obama Wardrobe Challenge!
Love your blog! And love the Coach scarf!
Happy Almost Bday!
I have a delicious and VERY easy recipe.
Mix cut up macaroons, sour cream and brown sugar and refridgerate, Dip raspberries, strawberries and blueberries in it. Yum!
I had a Christmas party this year, and rather than make a lot of things homemade (the way I often do) I stocked up at Sam's Club which is a half hour north of NYC and couple of other places.
Obviously, a party with appetizers should include shrimp cocktail. It is always the first thing to go...I also served a meat and cheese tray, spanakopita (which I make in an awesome way...but these were store bought.)
And if you're going to Sam's I suggest picking up mini cheesecakes and beef wellington puffs. Trust me when I tell you that those were insanely good.
I also made a few dips, and instead of sticking them in a plain bowl, I put them in sourdough and pumpernickel bread bowls. It is a simple way to really make things look snazzy...:)
Most importantly, enjoy yourself!
Here's a pic of the bread bowls ans well as a pic of (most of) the appetizers.

Hi Kimberly~
I love your blog...Ally from Cute on the Cheap was one of my sorority sisters and I found your blog through her.
Here is one of my favorite dips:
Buffalo Chicken Dip:
3-4 cooked shredded chicken breast
8 oz Franks Hot Sauce (I use wing sauce)
8 oz Ranch
2 brick of cream cheese
8 oz cheddar cheese
Combined ingredients and back at 350 for 30 minutes. Serve warm with tortilla chips
I just posted my superbowl menu on my blog with four hella easy appetizers!
Thanks so much for all the inspiration!
